Daico has successfully deployed our (m+n)ART Architecture Transmitter for a historical ASR-3 Radar transmitter upgrade program in 2010. The unprecedented features of (m+n)ART SSTx are supported and achieved by utilizing Daico’s proprietary Switching Combiner Unit (SCU). By design principle, the (m+n)ART Transmitter Architecture defaults ‘m’ units “On-Line” and ‘n’ units in “Standby” mode during normal operation. (m+n) automatically detects failures among ‘m’ active LRUs, automatically fails-over one of ‘n’ standby units, if available, and places the failed LRU in “Off-Line” mode, and automatically optimizes the SCU output impedance without operational interruption. As a result, the redundancy built-in (m+n)ART Transmitters effectively removes LRUs from the critical path to achieve superior System MTBCF, Availability, and Reliability. Additionally, the critical SCU also enriches (m+n)SSTx the unprecedented Hot Swap and Graceful Degradation features with up to 30kW output peak power operation up to C-Band frequency.
Daico has further developed our proprietary high power combining scheme with the introduction of Daico’s next-generation cost-cutting integrated Divider and next-generation radial Combiner concept (“Divider/Switching Combiner” Unit, or DSCU). It significantly reduces the implementation costs of (m+n)SSTx without compromising Availability, Reliability or Maintainability. Furthermore, we can integrate RF coupling and RF detection functions into the DSCU multi-function assembly (MFA) in the ultra-reliable cable-less high power CHPA building block, which can be conventionally combined to achieve hundreds (100s) of kW output power.
